HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 3RD EDITION

the battle of the future european champion against FUTURE EUROPEAN vice-champion

  • The innovation was the creation of a new arena. We have placed jumping track and sprint track in the same place.Entire arena was surrounded by stands.
  • The sprint battle between Volko, Stromšík and Barnes had the greatest response among the spectators. Volko and Barnes have met a year later in the final of the European Indoor Championships, with Volko taking the gold just ahead of 2nd Barnes.
  • The men’s long jump event record was broken. Radek Juška leaped to 793 cm and also in the men’s triple jump, when local Tomáš Veszelka reached 16.38 m.
  • The children’s program got a fresh new format and the youngest athletes competed in a duathlon (sprint and long jump).
  • So far, the most spectators have come to the stand.

  • Flat sprints were for the first time part of the competition program.
  • 2 arenas were created. The jumping one was moved to Main square near the Urban tower, and the sprint arena was created in the original place.
  • Athletes were competing on the MONDO surface, same surface as most of the Olympic stadiums are using.
